William G. Graeter, 93, of Urbana, formerly of Dayton, Fairborn and Xenia, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in Vancrest of Urbana. He was born September 24, 1919 in Dayton, OH. William is a veteran of the U.S Army, serving in WWII, retired from REA Express and attended Faith Fellowship Church. He along with his wife, Betty, sang in churches, nursing homes and many other places and he volunteered in nursing homes. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, traveling and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Betty (Thornburg) Graeter, daughters, Linda Smith of Urbana, Gloria (Keith) Pearce of Arcanum, and Janis (John) Hightower of California, son, Terry (Susan) Graeter of Kentucky, numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and sisters, Carol Scott of Dayton and Betty (Chester) Dunn of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Phyllis Thompson, and brother, Kenneth Graeter. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 in Faith Fellowship Church, 236 Bloomfield Ave., Urbana, with Rev. Roger Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery.
