Lawrence Fenton

FENTON, William Lawrence, age 89, of Urbana, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was born on March 18, 1935, to William and Opal Fenton and he graduated from Urbana Local High School, class of 1953. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Virginia (Pond) Fenton; two daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie and Kenny Boggs of Urbana and Kathy and John Paulsen of Springfield; grandchildren: Amy and Mark Traylor, Bryan Boggs, Emily Paulsen and her husband, Dave Shu, and Andy Paulsen; great-grandchildren: Lexi, Mia, and Gannon Traylor, Elayne Boggs and Annabella Odle; three sisters: Joyce Stickley, Ruth Ann Ireland, Marilyn Leopard and many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and William Fenton and Virginia's parents, Clara and Dale Pond. Lawrence was devoted to family, a horseman, and a social person. As a farmer, he instilled a love of the land in his family. He and Virginia enjoyed attending the children and grandchildren's school activities, sporting and 4-H events. They were proud to never miss an event. The Champaign County Fair brought him great joy, especially watching the horse races. He loved to visit with others, bringing laughter, wit and great stories to his family and friends. He left his family with a love and legacy that they will always cherish and carry in their hearts forever. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home with his funeral beginning at 1:00 p.m. with his son-in-law, John Paulsen officiating. Lawrence will be laid to rest in Oakdale Cemetery.
