Warren E. Vanscoy

VANSCOY, Warren E. of Urbana, passed away at age 98 on January 23, 2021. He was born June 21, 1922 in Lima, Ohio the seventh child of Philip and Belva Vanscoy. He served in World War II in the United States Air Force in North Africa from April 1944 to January 1946. He was Mayor of St. Paris from 1956-1957 and 1960-1961. He retired from the Champaign Telephone Company in Urbana as the Chief Engineer and Outside Plant Superintendent after 40 years in telephony. Warren is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Shirley Evans Vanscoy on November 1, 1975. Also by his second wife Nina Salsbury Bair Vanscoy on November 8, 1988. Survivors include his wife, Joy Beaty Vanscoy; daughters, Joyce (Jerry) McKeever of Urbana, Ohio, April Vanscoy (husband, Jeffery Anderson) of Pinehurst, ID and son, Douglas (Marybea Henterly) Vanscoy of University Place, Washington. Grandchildren: Amber Daniels, Alexis and Kai Vanscoy. Stepdaughter Loretta Karg Allen (Jon); stepson Ron (Beth) Watkins, stepgrandson, Justin (Sara) Karg, step grandson Devlin Allen, step granddaughter Hannah Allen and Brooke (James) Tucker, stepgrandsons Kurtis (Kara) Watkins, Dillon Watkins; step great granddaughter Khloe Karg, step great grandson Jake Karg and Brady Tucker, step great granddaughter Nora Sue Watkins, step great grandson Will Watkins and stepdaughters: Tonda Gist (Gary), Toby (Mike) Mahan, Gina Neer, stepgrandson Gavin Gist, step great grandson Skylar Gist; step granddaughter Darby Mayan, Collin (Brian) Brown, step great grandchildren: Barrett, Bodey and Perry Brown, step granddaughters, Alexandria and Nadia Mayan, stepgrandson Kyle (Laurie) Neer, step great granddaughter Lindey Neer, and step great grandson Nash Neer. The following siblings are deceased sisters: Lula Gross, Freida Stallsmith, Annabelle Vanscoy, brothers: Laurence, Russell, Myron and Victor. Deceased grandson Aaron Hegel. There will be a graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery. Minister Rob Blosser officiating.
