Virginia M. Lyden, 74, of Urbana, died at 9:02 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born July 26, 1938 in Urbana, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kerns) Metzger. Virginia was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was active in the Ladies Sodality. She had been employed by Guild Galleries and enjoyed baking pies. Survivors include daughters, Kathy (Tad) Atherton of Urbana and Kay Lyden of Urbana, sons, Kevin (Keelie) Lyden of Urbana, Michael (Amy) Lyden of Montrose, PA, and David (Nancy) Lyden of Springfield, twelve grandchildren, Mark, Scott, Wendy, John, Sarah, Kalie and Maura, Aaron, Audrey, Matt, Jonathan and Elizabeth, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas P. Lyden on January 17, 1998, daughter, Karen S. Stokes on September 7, 1986 and son, Kurt S. Lyden on August 27, 1988. Family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 in WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 231 Washington Ave., Urbana, with celebrant Father Greg Konerman.
