Vera C. Hughes

Vera C. (Martin) Hughes, age 70, entered into peace on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. Vera was born to the late Carl E. and Vera C. (Jones) Martin on August 20, 1945, in Dayton. She is a graduate of Trotwood Madison High School, and retired from Time Warner Cable. Vera enjoyed doing crafts, especially sewing, and had a great passion for dogs. She volunteered for the S.A.S.S Rescue, and fostered dogs as often as she was able. Vera loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and took great pride in each of them. Vera is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (David) Brown of Urbana; one brother, Carl E. Martin Jr. of Huber Heights; a sister, Erna Dean (Gary) Riley of New Carlisle; four grandchildren, Amanda Brock, D.J. ODell, Dylan Jamison, and Kerilyn Jamison; five great-grandchildren, Keegan, Addison, Kaelyn, Kamden, and Niklaus; former husband and life-long friend, Neil Blankenship; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Vera was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Hughes. A celebration of Veras life will be held at the convenience of the family.
