Velma E. Davis

Velma E. Davis, 97, of Urbana, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. She was born on June 14, 1918 in Rodney, OH, a daughter of Roscoe and Lucy (Spencer) Rutherford. Velma was a long-time member of Church of Christ in Urbana. Survivors include 2 daughters, Diana of Springfield and Judy Davis of Urbana; one grandson, Terry, great-grandchildren, Brandi and Erikka and great, great-grandchildren, Giovanni and Silas, all of Columbus. Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Davis; children, Samuel and Donna; sisters, Eleanor Ganson, Alumae VanHoose, Thelma Rutherford and Maybelle Berry; brothers, Cecil, Clarence, Charles and John Rutherford; and grandson, Steven. Family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Myers officiating.
