Suzi (Colbert) Waldren, lifetime resident of Urbana, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 30, 1940 to Raymond and Ann Colbert (Rhodes). Suzi was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Nelson B. Rhodes; and daughter, Cathy Ann Glassburn. She is survived by her brother, Charles Colbert of Dayton, Ohio; son-in-law Jerry Glassburn; and her friend of 40 years and her caregiver, Sharon Ireland. Suzi was a member of Amvets 121, lifetime member of American Legion 120 and a member of the Woodstock Eagles. She retired from VFW Canteen on September 15, 2002. Suzi placed flags at Soldier’s Mound for over 30 years. She was recognized for her service and received a plaque for generously donating her time. Suzi was honored to be able to go once a week and replace the tattered flags and give back in this way. In her younger years, she was an avid hunter of moose, deer, elk, antelope and black bear. She loved gardening and growing flowers and veggies and loved nothing more than being around a vast number of people, cooking and helping in any way she could. Most who knew her, knew she never passed up the opportunity to eat ice cream and she usually had it every night. A graveside service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 11a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Walter & Lewis Funeral Home.
