Steven “Mark” Williams, 57, devoted loving husband, son and great friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 22, 2013 in his residence. He was born March 2, 1956 in Columbus, OH, a son of Mary ( Goldsberry) Williams and the late Haskel Williams of Westerville, OH. He was a graduate of Westerville High School and ITT Technology of Columbus with a degree in Engineering. As a beloved member of the First Christian Church of Urbana, he played the organ for worship services. Through the church, he was involved with "Helping Hands", a local outreach serving the community in various capabilities. Mark was a board member of the Cancer Association of Champaign County (CACC) and spearheaded various committees over the years(Celebrity Waiters, Tag Days, and Tour of Homes). Currently employed by Honeywell for over 25 years, he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Because of his love for aviation and planes, he enjoyed being a volunteer worker for the Grimes Flying Lab. With his great love of organ music and theatre organs, he was a member of American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) and Central Ohio Theatre Organ Society (COTOS). Mark embrace his Christian life and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed golfing and bowling with dear friends. Mark had many, many friends and acquaintances. He was very easy-going and a fun-loving person. The family wishes to thank Midwest Dialysis/Davita, OSU Medical Center Team, the nurses and all the doctors. A special thanks to Dr. Steven Polsley, Dr. George Varghese and P.D. nurses Rose and Hope. Mark was patiently awaiting a kidney transplant. OSU Medical Center had informed Mark and Cynthia it was anticipated that he would receive a transplant this year. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Cynthia J. (Rice)Williams who he married on May 2, 1987 in the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, OH., his mother, Mary Williams of Westerville; brother-in-law Brad Rice, special nieces Tara and Lindsay all of Worthington, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, aunts and uncles. A celebration of Mark’s life with family and friends will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013 with First Christian Church Minister Michael Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
