Shelley Raye Nickerson

Shelley Raye Nickerson, 54, of Cable, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 30, 1960 in Urbana, OH, the daughter of Robert E. Fox, Jr. and Gloria Jean (Collins) Hidy. Shelley was a 1978 graduate of Urbana High School where she was a majorette. She studied nursing at Clark State and Rhodes College and worked at Grimes for 10 years. Shelley loved spending time in South Carolina and Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and loved antiques and animals. Foster parenting was her passion. Survivors include her mother, Gloria Jean Hidy and stepfather James W. Hidy of Urbana; husband, Dale Nickerson of Cable who she married on May 19, 1989; children, Michael Humble II of Urbana, Kristofor Humble of Phoenix, AZ, Amy Humble of Urbana, Nolan Nickerson of Cable and Mallory Nickerson of Cable; 10 grandchildren, Baylie, Lexiss, Payton, Trysten, Jaydn, Landon, James, Kayla, BrynnLeigh and Jaxon; sisters, Kim (Mark) Wren of Texas, Lisa (Jeff) Walters of Urbana and Jodie Fox of Springfield; grandmother, Bessie Fox of Mechanicsburg; father-in-law, Bobby Nickerson of Virginia Beach, VA; special friend, Lori Dunham of Urbana; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and her four-legged child, Toby. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Fox, Jr. and mother-in-law, Roxanne Nickerson. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Shelleys memory to PAWS Animal Shelter, 1535 W.
