RODGERS, Shannon J., age 49 of Cable went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 21, 2023. She was surrounded by those she loved as she took her last breath here on earth and her first one in Heaven. Shannon was born on September 7, 1973 in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel P. and Betty (Rogan) Rodgers. In addition to her father, Shannon was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John P. Rogan; uncles: Steve Rogan and Jonathan Rogan as well as her aunt Lorraine Rodgers. Shannon leaves behind her mother, Betty; daughter, Daytayviah K. Rodgers; sister, Chasity West; nephew, Tyion P. West; grandmothers: Rose Rodgers and Jean Rogan as well as a special aunt, Donna Rogan. She is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of devoted friends who cared for Shannon in her final days including: Amber Swayne, Linda Beatte, and Teresa Dunkin. The family would also like to extend their deep appreciation for Pastor Dan & Tammy Lieker for their constant prayers and visits with Shannon. Shannon was a graduate of Urbana High School and she earned her Bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Urbana University. She was a dedicated employee at Honeywell Manufacturing for over twenty years and a faithful member of River of Life Christian Center. Shannon enjoyed being a 4-H advisor for the Mechanicsburg Fine Swine 4-H club and watching her daughter and nephew show at the Champaign County Fair. She assisted Bill Moss with Urbana High School Girls Basketball and coached softball rec leagues. She loved watching University of Kentucky Men's Basketball. She was over the moon when her daughter, Daytayviah was able to continue her softball career at Muskingham University. Anyone that knew Shannon knew that her personality was bigger than life. She never knew a stranger, she loved all children like they were her own and many joked that she should run for mayor because of all the people she knew. Family was everything to Shannon; whether it was playing games, building puzzles, or watching movies with her sister; she considered herself blessed. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at River of Life Christian Center from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Shannon's celebration of life will follow on Saturday, March 25 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Leiker officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oak Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Champaign County Cancer Association.
