Shanna C. Vanscoy, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, transcended to a peaceful state on December 5, 2024, in Urbana, Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 24, 1956, in Piqua, Ohio, Shanna devoted her life to nurturing her children, pouring her heart and soul into the role that meant everything to her. The pride she took in her family shone brightly throughout her life, as she effortlessly made every place a home, no matter how far her husband's military career took them.
Shanna's unwavering strength and resilience were evident to all who knew her. Even when faced with life's challenges, her love for her children became her sanctuary, fortifying her spirit and surrounding her with an aura of positivity. Her ability to remain steadfast and uplifting, even in difficult times, left a profound impact on those fortunate enough to have crossed her path.
Educated at The Ohio State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Shanna was a true Buckeye at heart. Her passion for The Ohio State University was unmistakable. Her home was always adorned with team décor and especially would come alive with vibrant decorations each football season, showcasing her fierce spirit and undeniable loyalty to her team.
In her spare time, for around 18 years, she worked diligently at Kohl's in Beavercreek, where she developed lasting friendships that enriched her life. Each encounter was marked by her warmth, making every person feel valued and cherished.
Shanna will be profoundly missed by her devoted husband, Matt Vanscoy, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 45 years; her children, Andrew Vanscoy and Allison Vanscoy, who carry forth her legacy of love; her cherished sisters, Shelley (Ray) Robbins, Sherrie Britton, Chris Willman, Shalice (Bill) Elliott, and Shonica Bowermeister; along with her brother-in-law, Dan Vanscoy, and sisters-in-law, Barbara Byrd and Kathy Young. Shanna also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, who were undoubtedly illuminated by her love and kindness.
