Ruth Ann Adams

ADAMS, Ruth A. age 87 of Urbana, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 9, 2023.  She is rejoicing in Heaven with her beloved husband, William Adams who passed away on the exact same date, 45 years prior.  Ruth was born on June 23, 1936 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late Millard and Lilly (Moore) Thornhill.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Rodney Adams; siblings: James Thornhill, Lawrence Thornhill, Burrel Thornhill, Thomas Thornhill, Virginia Wynn, Louise Tullis, and Carolyn Cox as well as special friend, Max Wagner.  Ruth leaves behind her children: Michael (Doreen) Adams and Angela (Scott) Kearns; grandchildren: Chad Adams, Michelle Adams, Justin Adams, Eric (Whitney) Zirkle, Adam (Alecia) Zirkle, Matthew (Breanna) Kearns, Haley Adams, Hannah Adams and Kerra Adams; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Chloe, Canon, Emma, Kayla, Cooper, Xavier, Jensen, Addyson, Sawyer, Alexandria, Brooklyn, and Alaina.  Ruth is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Freida Adams; siblings: Roger (Sue) Thornhill, Linda (Bob) Jumper and Judy Thornhill as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Ruth devoted her life to helping people; she was hardworking and known to do things her way.  She worked as manager and district manager for Dairy Mart, previously known as Lawson's.  She also owned D & R Used Furniture and was employed by CVS.  Ruth's greatest employment was at the Salvation Army.  She loved coordinating all the volunteers to ring the bell during the holiday season, having everyone together after to count all the donations to help families in need.  After the Salvation Army closed its door, she ran the Salvation Army vouchers from her own home, well into her 80's.  She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.  The family would like to extend their appreciation to Ruth's special care team including: Joyce, Lisa, Tracee, and Janette.  A visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home.  Her funeral will follow on Saturday, September 16 also at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Ruth will be laid to rest next to William at Oak Dale Cemetery.  Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com
