Rosemary Theresa Todd

Rosemary Theresa (Carmazzi) Todd, 86, of Urbana, passed away at 5:30 P.M. Friday, December 19, 2014 in Vancrest of Urbana. She was born December 23, 1927 in Bucyrus, OH, the daughter of Frank and Victoria (Andreini) Carmazzi. Rosemary, a graduate of St. Mary School, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Urbana where she was active in the Ladies Sodality. She worked tirelessly to advocate for the mentally disabled citizens. She began working at the local level, then advanced to the state and finally to the national level, working at each stop to make a better environment for mentally disabled. Rosemary helped start Residential Services. She pushed, sometimes literally, to get bills through the State House to protect these individuals rights. She also testified before the U.S. House Committees to make certain the Mentally Disabled had a voice in this country. She accomplished what many could not. She made the world a better place. Survivors include her daughter, Marianne Todd of Urbana; sons, Tim (Janet) Todd of Urbana, Dennis (Diana) Todd of Urbana and Brian (Linda) Todd of Urbana; five grandchildren, Tony (Brittany) Todd, Matthew Todd, Angie Todd, Noah Todd, Ali Millner and two great grandchildren, JT Todd and Matthew Todd; brothers, Robert (Jean) Carmazzi of Urbana and John (Michelle) Carmazzi of Urbana; first cousin Albano Andreini and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul Todd. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, December 22, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in the St. Mary Catholic Church 231 Washington Ave., Urbana, OH 43078 with Father Greg Konerman celebrant.
