Roseanna Marie Akins, age 89 of Urbana, Ohio passed away after complications from a stroke on October 17, 2024. She was born July 31, 1935 in Fairborn, Ohio, the only daughter of the late Remigio and Anna (Longo) Cocca. Roseanna is survived by daughters, Theresa (Thomas) Rittenhouse and Rose Akins, grandchildren Charles (Megan) Rittenhouse and Christopher (Laura) Rittenhouse, great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Peter, Celeste, Genevieve, Mary and Nina, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles E. Akins, and brothers, Armonto, Omberto, and Gunio (Mary) Cocca.
Roseanna graduated from Baker High School in Fairborn and went to work as a secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She met Charles, was married, and truly enjoyed being a homemaker. After moving to Urbana in 1968 was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and also enjoyed volunteering at the Urbana Library, Mercy Memorial Hospital and the American Lung Association. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Walter and Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Urbana. Roseanna will be laid to rest at Fairfield Cemetery, Fairborn at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com.
