OBITUARY FOR ROGER A. STOKES, STOKESIE Roger A. Stokes, Stokesie 79, of Urbana, passed peacefully at home with his loving family at 1:52 P.M. Saturday, October 26, 2013 in his residence. He was born September 21, 1934 in Champaign County, OH, a son of Arthur A. and Audrey (Guey) Stokes. He retired from Grimes Honeywell after 45 years of service, umpired softball for all ages, including fast pitch softball for the Cavemen Softball Team of West Liberty. Roger also had worked at Stapletons, but he most thoroughly enjoyed helping his daughter and grandson at Sparkys Pizzeria. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie (German) whom he married October 22, 1955; daughter, Rhonda Stokes; grandson Justin Stokes and his wife Betsy all of Urbana; sisters Lora Tobias of Mechanicsburg, Patricia Young of St. Paris; brother Marion Stokes and his wife Winnie of Urbana; sisters-in- law, Betty Stokes of Springfield, Elaine Stokes of Kettering, Mildred Stokes of Urbana, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Howard, Wendel, Arthur Jr., Loren and Gene Stokes; a sister Erma Stokes; and brother-in-law Bob Young.
