Retired Senior Master Robert E. “Bob” Davis, Sr., 64, of Urbana, died at 2:40 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012 in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born on September 6, 1948 in Tipp City, OH, the son of Robert Edward and Theodora Carolyn (Detrick) Davis. Bob retired in 1989 from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service and having served in Vietnam. He was a graduate of Patterson Co-Op High School of Dayton. Bob loved to fish and loved his corvette, was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds and played softball until his late 40’s. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Pamela (Crider) who he married on June 22, 1973, children, Todd and Lynn Slifer of Byron, IL, Traci and Robert White of North Lewisburg, Brian Slifer of Springfield, GA, Amber Bostick of Cable, Glenda and Shawn Smith of West Liberty, Robert Davis of Mansfield, OH, Nona Davis of Dayton and Rachel Davis of Dayton, fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, mother-in-law Beulah Crider of Urbana, his two dogs, Maddie and Molly, and his good friends from Honda and Sutphen’s. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Walter and Smith Funeral Home, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, with a service immediately following with Pastor Aaron Samples officiating.
