Richard Hogan Sells

Richard Hogan Sells, age 85 of Urbana, Ohio passed away peacefully at his beloved farm on September 2, 2024. He was born April 1, 1939 in Delaware, Ohio, the son of the late John Herschel and Helen Virginia (Forster) Sells. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Connie (Crabtree) Sells, children, Sarah Elizabeth (Sells) Roach (Robert), John (Terri) Sells, and Katherine Abigail (Sells) Low (Daniel), grandchildren, Morgan, Nathan, Abbie, Maddie, John, Peter, JoBeth, and James, sister, Jeri (Sells) Wires, and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Timothy Sells.

A proud Marine, Richard served his country with honor and distinction, embodying the values of loyalty and courage throughout his life. Richard dedicated a significant portion of his professional life to the State of Ohio, excelling in his role as an accountant. Following retirement, Richard embraced a new chapter as a small farmer, cultivating land and connections with the local agriculture community. In the realms of his family life, Richard cherished memories created while coaching his son in football- cheering him on during his time in Oxford at Miami University, and sharing a special bond with his Grandma Izzy. Richard also harbored a love for trains. Overall, Richard’s greatest times were spent enjoying his golden years on the farm with his beloved wife, Connie. 

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10:00-12:00 PM at the Walter and Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. A private burial at Kings Creek Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Richard’s late brother, John Timothy.
