Richard E. Neer, 66, of Xenia, was received into the open arms of Jesus on Friday, May 30, 2014 in the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. He was born March 13, 1948 in Bellefontaine, a son of D. Dwight and Ida N. (Lapp) Neer. Richard was a 1966 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School, received a degree from the University of the District of Columbia and worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, then as a Respiratory Sales Representative for GlaxoSmithKline for 18 years. He was a member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, Xenia, and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association His survivors include his wife of 38 years, Esther (Brock) whom he married October 25, 1975; daughter, Kelly (Adam) Dyer of Xenia; a son, Judson (Sara) Neer of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Olivia, Madison, Amelia, Jonathan, Daniel and Samuel; sisters, Grace (Jacob) Leichty and Lois (Jerry) Coons and brother, Philip (Reva) Neer, all of West Liberty, OH, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in the Dayton Avenue Baptist Church 1121 Dayton Avenue, Xenia. OH, 45385 with Pastor Jon Young officiating.
