R. David Jones

R. David Jones age 78 of Urbana passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 9, 2023.  He was born on September 29, 1945 to Roy O. Jones and Daisy Jane Crabtree in Otway, Ohio.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Edward "Oak" Evans, William "Bill" Evans, Dale Evans, Mary Lou Geisinger, and John Jones. David is survived by his son, David Jones; grandson, Oakley David Jones; sister, Phyllis Russell of Austin, Texas and brother, George Jones of Portsmouth, Ohio.  David was a decorated Army veteran, receiving a Bronze Star Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. David was a member of Life Net Fellowship and enjoyed singing karaoke as well as spending time with his son and grandson. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery's Chapel with his service beginning at 10:00 a.m.  David will receive military honors following the service.  Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com
