Phillip A. Shroyer

Phillip A Shroyer, Sr went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the age of 83.

Phillip “Phil” was born March 12, 1938 in Springfield, OH to Elbert and Kathryn (Burkepile) Shroyer. He
graduated from Springfield South High School in 1956. On July 16, 1955, he married Joan Gnau at First Baptist Church in Hamburg, NY with Phil’s uncle, Rev. William Shroyer, officiating. The couple moved to Urbana in 1964 with their young family.

Phil was the Controller at Barnhart Oil Company for many years. In 1976, he moved away from Urbana to become Vice President and General Manager of the Circleville Oil Company. A few years later, he received the opportunity to purchase Miller Office Supply, so he moved back to Urbana with his family. He was a man of many talents. He
was quite a carpenter and remodeled many houses throughout his life. He was always there to help those who asked him.

Phil was a long-time member of the Grace Baptist Church where, for many years, he was the Music Director. and Treasurer. He loved to sing and had a wonderful voice. He was quite a character with his corney jokes. His laughter could fill the room.

Phil will be, lovingly, remembered by his children: Pam (Michael) Harrington, Allen (Sandy) Shroyer and Tonya (Robert) Hall. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: David, Evan, Phillip III, Paige, Austin and Katie; great-grandchildren, Alex, Jonah, Evelyn, Charlotte and Brigette; brother Ron (Carol) Shroyer; sisters-in-law, Chris Shroyer, Rita Robinson, Barbara Wall, Marilyn Aldridge, Monica Porter and Angela (Phil) Thomerson; and many nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, of 63 years, Joan; his parents Elbert and Kathryn Shroyer; brother Stanley Shroyer and sister Jackie Boldman.

Family and friends may call on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 4 to 6 pm in the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St, Urbana. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11 am at the Grace Baptist Church, 960 Children’s Home Road, Urbana with Pastor Aaron Samples officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery.
