Loving father and brother, Philip Dale (Phil) Crabtree, 75, of Urbana, left this life peacefully on December 7, 2020. He was born on January 30, 1945, the son of the late Charles (Charlie) and Byrda (Kline) Crabtree. Phil is survived by his long-time partner, Linda Morse; sons, Doug (Anna) of Montana and Ben of Zanesville; sisters, Sharon (David) Coomer, of Middletown and Connie (Richard) Sells and brother Sam (Jeanie) Crabtree of Urbana; several nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and nephews who all loved Uncle Phil. He was preceded in death by his sister Charlene (Roger) Jordan and infant sister Marilyn Sue Crabtree.
Phil was a life-long farmer, who also enjoyed a 20-year career as a truck driver and retired as a dedicated Teamster in 2010. He was the proud recipient of ABF Trucking Company’s Safe Driving and 2-Million Accident-Free Miles Awards.
Phil's most enjoyable times were spent farming, with his son in Montana and in Salem Township, where he was raised on a dairy and grain farm. For the last 14 years, he assisted his brother and friends at Clyburn Farms, even most recently with bringing in the 2020 harvest this fall. He also enjoyed 'porch farming' with his farm friends and family in the off-seasons and on rainy days when they couldn't be in the fields.
Private services will be held for immediate family and he will be laid to rest at Kingscreek Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, December 15 at the cemetery. Please respect the health and safety of all by maintaining social distance and wearing masks. Arrangements in care of Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.walterfunerals.com.
