Norman E. Geron

Norman “Pappy” Geron, 89, of Urbana, died on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 22, 1928 in Springfield, OH, a son of Philip and Gladys Geron. After 31 years of service, Norman retired from International Harvester. He was a member of Teamsters No. 402 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.
Norman loved music and dancing and played the saxophone. He was a caring and generous man who was always there for his family. He loved spending time with his family, going out to eat and especially loved fishing with his grandkids.
Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia (John) Johnson of Urbana, Jane Geron Worthen of Urbana and Pamela Underwood of Urbana; grandchildren, Julie Johnson, Heather Johnson, Gerald Dobie Jr., Jason Edward Dobie, Shayna Underwood and Adrian Underwood; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Phyllis Coffey and Jim Geron.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy L. (Kreglow) Geron in 2013; grandson, Kenny Underwood, Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert Coffey; and sister-in-law, Genevieve Geron.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where services will be held at 12 p.m. with Pastor Tony Peña officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
