Myron Theodore "Ted" Kelley

Myron Theodore “Ted” Kelley, age 86, of Urbana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, February 24, 2023 in Vancrest of Urbana where he has been a resident since 2017. He was born on October 7, 1936, in Urbana, the son of the late Griffith and Maude Kelley.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Jean Kelley in 2018; his son, Jeff Kelley; brother, William Kelley; 1 grandchild; and brother-in-law, Harley McCall.

He is survived by his daughters, Jill Peters and Jennifer (David) Powell; son, Jon (Mari Anne) Kelley; sister, Trudy McCall; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

Ted graduated from Urbana High School and continued his education in architecture. After serving his apprenticeship, he became a licensed architect in the late 1980’s. His first project was at the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union which is where he also attended. During his professional career, Ted designed over 250 churches and was a lifetime member of “Whos Who”. He designed several homes in the Urbana area and continued to be involved in building and construction projects until his health would no longer allow. Ted was a generous man who deeply loved his family and always put others first. The legacy he leaves will always be cherished by family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 12pm-2pm at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home with service beginning at 2pm. John Nolte will be officiating.
