Mickey Maize

MAIZE, Mickey age 68 of Urbana, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Springfield Regional Medical Center.  He was born Gary Simpson on May 16, 1955, the son of the late Robert and Charlotte (Robinson) Simpson.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Roberta Owens.  Mickey leaves behind his beloved niece, Tera (Davon Brown) Owens; nephew, Joseph Johnson; great nieces and nephews: Davionna Brown, Dakarai Brown, Davonte Brown, Jordan Johnson and Jonea Johnson as well as his cousins: Karen Roberts, Raymond Scott and Brian Scott.  Mickey was a Registered Nurse in California for thirty years and upon returning to Ohio he worked for fifteen years as a meat cutter at Kroger.  He loved cooking and baking; he was a talented flute and banjo player.  Basically Mickey was a jack of all trades and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home to celebrate his life with Reverend Carl Vactor officiating.  Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com
