Maybelle Hunt, 93, of Woodstock, left her earthly home to accept her heavenly reward in Jesus arms on Friday, May 2, 2014, in Spring Meadows Care Center, Woodstock, OH. She was born on April 4, 1921 in Champaign County, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Nettie (Fairchild) Carter. Maybelle was a member of Northside Church of God of Urbana where she was a Sunday School teacher for thirty years. Maybelle was an employee at Yocoms Variety Store, TG&Y and Walmart where she worked in the fabric departments. Maybelle loved to do crafts and her employment reflected that by making dolls and needlework for the fabric department to display in the stores. She also was gifted at writing poems, painting and making figurines from salt clay. She is survived by daughter, Martha Ann Ackley (husband Ron, deceased), of Orient; sons, Philip Hunt and wife Helen of Indiana, Bruce Hunt and wife Cherie of Urbana, and Mark Hunt and wife Carol of Cable; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Luther; 2 sisters, Hattie and Betty; and 3 brothers, Ray, Roy and Roscoe. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Joyce McKeever and Chaplain Chuck Healy officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
