Mary Lucille Skiles

Mary Lucille (Neer) Skiles, 93, passed peacefully on January 2, 2025 in Dublin, Ohio. She was born on December 25, 1931 in Urbana, Ohio, a daughter of Lester William and Goldie Belle (Faulkner) Neer, and was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Mildred (Neer) Engle and Doris Jean Neer. Survivors include brother, Charles A. Neer (Rosalind) of Delaware, Ohio, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

As a resident of California for over 20 years, Mary was employed as a budget analyst for the United States Air Force Satellite Control Facility. Throughout her career, she received several commendation certificates for her dedicated service. 

Mary was an avid reader of biographies and various novels. She was a sports enthusiast, following her favorite Arizona Wildcats basketball team, and had years of loyalty to Ohio State football. She was well versed on national and world events and welcomed the opportunity to discuss current issues. 

Following their retirement Mary and her sister Doris enjoyed several years together in Tucson, AZ. Their passion was traveling to many states featuring national parks and historical sites, including Presidential Libraries. As well, they enjoyed international travel, visiting several countries in Europe. Mary returned to her home state of Ohio two years ago to be closer to family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cap City Hospice. Family will receive friends from 10:00-10:30 a.m. with her service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana.
