Mary Ellen Ames

Mary Ellen Ames, 95, of Urbana, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in Vancrest of Urbana. She was born May 3, 1920 in Scioto County, Ohio. She was a graduate of Lucasville High School and retired from Mercy Memorial Hospital. Mary was a devout Christian and was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union for approximately 70 years. Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Hatfield of Columbus and Sharon (Weldon) Potts of Urbana, and son, Frank Ames of Phoenix, AZ. She had 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Grace Dever; her husband of 61 years, Ross Ames; and all 10 of her siblings. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, and from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015 in the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1121 N. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. that day with the Revs. David VanHoose, Mike Grable and Carl Ogden officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery.
