Martha J. Hunt

HUNT, Martha J. age 88 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She was born on October 14, 1932 on Calland Road in Champaign County to the late Arthur and Leila (McKinley) Calland. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Hunt and brothers, Richard Calland and Kenneth Calland. She leaves behind her sons to cherish her memory, Ron (Tammy) Hunt and Randy (Cassie) Hunt; grandchildren: Amber (Jon) Leemaster, Kari (Chris) Caldwell, and Ryan Hunt as well as great-grandchildren: Emma and Luna. She is also survived by her brother, Phil (Nancy) Calland and sister, Donna (Ernie) Lohnes. Martha graduated from Concord High School and continued her education at Wilmington College where she received her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degree from Wright State University. Martha was a dedicated teacher for Triad local schools, teaching 2nd and 4th grades until her retirement. She was a loyal member of the First Presbyterian Church and Friends of the Champaign County Library. Other memberships include: life member of Ohio Education Association, life member of National Education Association, Ohio Education Association, Retired, and NEA-Retired. In her free time, Martha enjoyed quilting and spending time with her loving family. A visitation will be held at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with her funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Kazy Hinds officiating. Martha will be laid to rest next to her husband, Marvin in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions be made to Friends of the Champaign County Library or First Presbyterian Church of Urbana.
