Mae Burson

Mae Burson, 80, of Urbana, died at 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. She was born February 17, 1933 in Paintsville, KY, the daughter of Arthur and Virgie (Salyers) Saylor. Mae worked as a waitress at Billys Truck Stop and retired from the Champaign Nursing Home. Survivors include two sons, Merrill Powell and Jeff Powell and his wife Bobby Jo, all of Urbana; three grandchildren, Chelsea Powell, Austin Powell and Mason Powell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Merrill D. Powell, Sr., second husband, Howard F. Burson, and nine brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 with Chaplain Bruce Heckman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Urbana.
