Lloyd Kells, 93, of Urbana, died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. He was born April 8, 1920 in Williamstown, KY. Lloyd attended Williamsburg High School in Williamstown, KY, came to Ohio in 1937 and served two years in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a farmer and also worked in farm machinery sales, car sales and well pump service. Lloyd was employed at Champaign Landmark for 39 years. He attended Mt. Carmel Friends Church, enjoyed being with his morning coffee mates and enjoyed life to the fullest. Survivors include his wife, Mildred (Humphrey) Kells; a son, Max L. Kells and his wife Vicki of Rochester Hills, MI; grandchildren, James Kells of Rochester Hills, MI, John Kells of Rochester Hills, MI, and Amy Ross and husband Phil of Mah Wah, NJ; great-granddaughter, Adrienne Ross of Mah Wah, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Kells, brothers, Harold and twin Floyd, and sisters, Lucille and Marie. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 with Pastor Michael Will officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Lloyd to your favorite charity. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.walterfunerals.com.
