Leonard James Deere

DEERE, Leonard James age 89 of Urbana, Ohio passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on February 28, 1932 to the late Homer and Alice (Ross) Deere in Urbana. In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Delores "June" Deere and his brother, Raymond Deere. He leaves behind his children to cherish his memory: Karen Bailey, Mike Deere and Vicki Deere (Tim) Bunnell; grandchildren, Kyle (Lacy Webster) Bailey, Seth Deere, and Heather (Bill) Ullom along with her family. Leonard is also survived by his great-grandson, Kayden Bailey. Leonard was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic School, class of 1950. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was employed by Pioneer Electric before having a successful career at People's Savings Bank. He loved all things to do with the outdoors, gardening, playing tennis and traveling with his wife. Leonard was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church as well as Kiwanis. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 6 at St. Mary Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Leonard loved the Christmas season, in lieu of traditional flowers the family would enjoy an ornament or decoration that reminds you of Leonard or a contribution may be made to Barely Used Pets.
