Johnny Ray Johnson, 63, of Urbana, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 in the OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born on August 1, 1955 in Urbana, OH, a son of James and Betty (Markin) Johnson. Johnny was a member of the American Legion firing squad for funerals, a member of the Urbana VFW and Amvets and a member of the F.O.E. in Urbana and Mechanicsburg. He enjoyed going to the river with his grandchildren and family, was an avid OSU and Bengals fan and loved watching the games with his grandson, JJ. He was proud of all of his grandchildren and their accomplishments in life.
Johnny recently adopted his dog, George, from Barely Used Pets and enjoyed spending time with him.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Geron) Johnson; daughters, Julie Johnson and Heather Johnson; grandchildren, Tajé Mack, Joplin Sloat, Jason “JJ” Sloat, Joseph Sloat and Jahna Sloat; sisters, Sandy (Tim) Cline, Cathy (Mike) Henry, and Nancy Skaggs; and brother, Jimbo Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tommy J. Johnson (his twin) and Larry Johnson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Nancy Geron.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the Oak Dale Cemetery Shepherd Mausoleum with Pastor Tony Pena officiating.
Memorial contributions in Johnny’s memory may be made to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, Barely Used Pets or the American Legion firing squad.
