John V. Holycross

John Holycross, Sr., 80, of Urbana, took his last drive on Saturday, May 2, 2015. He was born April 14, 1935 in Union County, to the late William and Helen (Ridgeway) Holycross. John was a 1953 graduate of North Lewisburg High School and later went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Columbia Gas Company in Urbana after more than 30 years. Survivors include two daughters, Lori (Jeff) Morgan of Urbana, and Lynn (Fred) Martin of Shelby; one son, Jay (Jana) Holycross of Urbana; step-son, Bill Guisinger of Urbana; two sisters, Becky Teets of North Lewisburg, and Jesse (Larry) Agner of North Lewisburg; along with sister in law, Karen Holycross, also of North Lewisburg; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 2010, and his four brothers, Richard, David, Robert, and Floyd Holycross. John will be dearly missed by all those who knew him, especially his friends of the Burger King Liars Club. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 12pm-2pm in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main Street, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
