John G. Bohnert

BOHNERT, John G. age 76 of Urbana passed away peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on August 14, 1945 in Moline, Illinois to the late Lester and Elvera (Sundine) Bohnert. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Reeter and her husband, Wayne. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Georgia (Lewis) Bohnert; daughters: Jennifer (Jason) DeWitt and Janey (Daniel) Jarboe; grandchildren: Christian Yane, Andrew DeWitt, Emily DeWitt and Claire DeWitt. John is also survived by his siblings: Pat (Darrel) Liedtke, Beverly (Ed) Stoneburg, Jim (Wanda) Bohnert, Ted (Marci) Bohnert, Theresa (Doug) Gowdy, and Lester (Becky) Bohnert. John retired from Navistar after 39 dedicated years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and his faith was very important to him. John was a loving family man who enjoyed going to all of his grandchildren's sporting events. He had a passion for running and a soft spot in his heart for animals. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, February 25, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church begins at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Paws Animal Shelter in John's honor.
