John Eugene Eaton

John Eugene Eaton, age 77 of Urbana, Ohio passed away on October 12, 2024 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born November 29, 1946 in Champaign County, Ohio to the late John and Thelma (Blue) Eaton. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Laurena (Sellers) Eaton with a wonderful 59 years of marriage. He had 2 daughters, Dawn (Eaton) and Scott Vermillion, also his beloved angel in heaven, Shawn (Eaton) Robb. He has 2 grandchildren, Kyle (Christina) Robb, and Sierra Vermillion. He also has one great-grandchild, Cassandra Robb. 

Gene spent many wonderful years with his deceased in-laws, Don (Norberta) Sellers. Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Thunderburg, Mary Lingrell, Kathy Hayes, and brother, Charles Eaton. He is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Gene was in the military during the Vietnam War as a sergeant. He also worked at Howard Papermill in Urbana, Ohio for over 30 years. In his free time, Gene enjoyed woodworking, arts and crafts, and giving to charity. Gene loved being with his family and friends. He was loved by all that came in contact with him.
