Jerry Imel, 82, of Cable, Ohio went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022
Jerry was born December 4, 1939 in Urbana, Ohio, the son of the late George Alfred and Elberta Foy Imel. He graduated from

Salem High School in 1957. He also attended Urbana University and drew the logo that was used in the newsletter, letterheads and yearbook for several years. He was a proud member of the Kings Creek Baptist Church as well as being an usher and the custodian, along with his wife, Doris, for many years. If you were around him for very long you probably heard him say “I’ve got a story to tell you” and one of his favorite stories was of his salvation. He loved to write poetry and had a passion for anything to do with Cowboys or horses. He loved to primitive camp with his family and friends. He loved to build Kentucky Long Rifles and owned a Muzzleloading gun shop outside of Cable for many years. Another passion of his was his artwork. He won several ribbons from the Champaign County Fair for his water color paintings, colored pencil drawings, sculptures and photography. He was retired from Honeywell. When it was still known as Grimes, he worked on the lighting system for the Grimes Flying Lab.

Most of all he had a strong love for his family and his Lord, that includes his wife of 60 years, Doris Leasure Imel, daughter and son-in-law, Sherri (Sonny) Iman, his grandchildren, Jeremy (Katie) Iman, of Chillicothe, Ohio, Josh Iman, of West Liberty, Ohio and Sarah Iman, Minneapolis, Minnesota, along with great grandson Ben Iman, of Chillicothe, Ohio. He is also survived by several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Linda Imel Knox, Gary Imel, and Barbara Imel Bunch.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Kings Creek Baptist Church, 1250 Kennard Kingscreek Road, Urbana, Ohio. With service immediately following with Pastor Chuck Samson officiating.
Burial will follow in Kingscreek Cemetery, Kingscreek, Ohio, with a gathering of family and friends for a meal and fellowship to follow.
