Jean A. Conkel

Jean A. (Sandy) Conkel, age 84, of Urbana, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Heartland of Urbana. Jean was born on March 12, 1932 in Dayton, to the late Harold and Ada (Cline) Sandy. She was a member of the Urbana Friends Church, sang in the church choir and enjoyed arts and crafts. Jean formerly worked as a cashier at Walmart and was also a past manager of Business Equipment in Urbana. Survivors include four sons, David Nease of Wisconsin, Steve Nease of Athens, Scott Nease of Illinois, and John W. II (Chris) Conkel of West Jefferson; two sisters, Wilma Duca and Frances Sandy; grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Matthew, Jana, and Devin; two nieces, Kathy Duca and Debbie Duca; former husband, John (Linda) Conkel; as well as numerous great grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews. Along with her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa A. Henry-Karg ; and a son, Timothy Nease. Friends may gather on Friday, April 1, 2016 in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., where a service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mutual.
