Janet S. Conley, 69, of Urbana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was born on February 4, 1948, in Piqua, Ohio, the daughter of the late Albert and Ethel (Bartley) Merriman. Janet is survived by her beloved sisters, Barbara Stotler and Karen (Kenneth) Quick; special niece, Karen Stotler and her 4 legged best friend, Tucker; daughter, Tammy Gochenouer; grandchildren, Paris, Kayla, Paige, Garrett and Collin; great-grandchildren, Malikai, Rayven, Kenji, Brayden, Destinee, Hunter, London, Garrett and Brantley; sister-in-law, Dorothy Louise Merriman; special friend, Joyce Moore; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family at Vancrest. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Mossbarger; and brothers, Al, Fred, Bob and Jack. Janet worked at Honeywell for over 30 years, but was best known around town for her baking. People lined up for her sugar cookies and pumpkin logs that she and her niece Karen put many hours into making. Janet was a very giving and outgoing lady who never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She had a passion for taking pictures, loved old country music and enjoyed her multiple trips to Nashville including the many Fan Fair’s with her family. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, with service on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 1 p.m. also at the funeral home.
