James “Jimbo” Johnson, Jr. age 67, of Urbana, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023. He was born on May 7, 1956, the son of the late James Andrew Johnson, Sr. and Mary (Evilsizor).
Jimbo is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon (Price); children, Peggy (Jay), Howard Jr. (Sharon) Hawkins, George (Marcia) Hawkins, James Johnson III, Loretta (Chad) Collins, Andrew Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Latosha Johnson and Grayson Kelly; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Daryl Johnson; sisters, Gloria (Lester) Skinner, Vickie (Bud) Eubanks and Brenda (Eldo) Cutlip; special friend, Kathleen Kelly; best friend, Howard Hawkins, Sr.; and several nieces and nephews. Jimbo was preceded in death by his daughter, Makensie; grandchildren, Ashlie, Kiley and Baby Howard; and brother, Kevin Johnson.
Jimbo loved a relaxing afternoon fishing and sitting around with family, enjoying an ice cold beer while playing music on his guitar. He was the comedian of the group, calling himself “The Legend” and enjoyed nothing more than making his family smile. Many knew Jimbo from working at the fair where he enjoyed making people smile and working the game booths.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 11am-1pm at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home. Service with family and friends sharing stories will begin at 1pm followed by burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to his family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com.
