James G. Jackson

James G. Jackson, 79, of Urbana, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, December 21, 2018. He was born on January 27, 1939, in Sandusky County, Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Cecil (Carver) Jackson. James is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joyce (Brown) Jackson and on December 15, 2018, they renewed their vows. Also surviving are his sons, Joseph and Richard Jackson; daughters, Rhonda (Darryl) Moore and Christine (Fred) Shelpman; 20 grandchildren; numerous great and great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul and Kenneth Jackson; sisters, Kay Lange, Mary Jackson and Ann Music; special friend, Wally Stickley; and many nieces, nephews and horseman friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Keith Jackson; daughter, Lisa Jackson; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. James was a member of the USTA and OHHA. He dearly loved his horses and was very involved with harness racing. He was a great handyman working numerous jobs including in the mechanical and plumbing industries. James adored his animals and loved spending time with them but above all, he cherished his family. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather who will be dearly missed by all. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5-7p.m. at WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:00a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Samples officiating. Burial to follow at Mutual Cemetery.
