OBITUARY FOR JAMES E. HATCHER Jim Hatcher, known to this friends as Hatch, lost this courageous battle with throat cancer at 11:58 AM on Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born on January 1, 1952 to James E. Hatcher Sr. of Indianapolis, IN. and Lucy A. (Mortimer) (Hatcher) Canaday of Urbana. He graduated from Urbana High School, where he was an enthusiastic basketball player. He was married to B. J. Clancy of Maple Hts., OH in 1973. He trained and studied at Davey Tree Services in Kent, OH, where he earned certification as a tree specialist. His main pursuit throughout his life was his love of music, both as audience and as a performer. He became an accomplished keyboardist, guitarist, song writer, and harmonica player. His many friends will recall many awesome jam sessions at Hatchs place. He is survived by his mother, Lucy Canaday; his brother and sister-in-law, Asa and Jody Canaday and their 4 children, Sierra, Isiah, Mya, and Alanna; his former wife, B. J. Clancy of Urbana; his eldest son and daughter-in-law, Colby and Michelle Hatcher and their 7 children, Lauren, Lance, Ryan, Ethan, Elizabeth, Elijah and Mikey, of Cleveland; and his youngest son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Analiza Hatcher and their 3 children, Eriana, Erielle, and Alexis, of Yuma, AZ. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge all the friends and relatives that offered love and support during Jims last days. You were all so important to him. As per Jims request a simple cremation was handled by WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. In lieu of a formal service, Jim asks that each of you remember the wonderful times you shared with him.
