James Allen Couchman

COUCHMAN, James Allen, age 82 of Urbana passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 22, 1940 in Champaign County to the late Robert V. and Alice Louise (Watson) Couchman. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Brenda (Gingrey) Couchman; daughter, Kim George; sisters, Patty, Eleanor, Mary Lou and brother Richard. James leaves behind his children: Jim A. (Kim) Couchman Jr., Barb (Todd) Close, Debra Couchman and Larry Couchman; sister, Shirley Henry; numerous grandchildren including Joshua, Elijah, Alicia and Lora; several nieces and nephews including Mike Henry and Kevin (Tina) Henry as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. James retired from O-Cedar Brands and enjoyed fishing, trapping and hunting. He was a devoted member of Renewed Strength Church. The family would like to acknowledge the amazing nursing staff and Dr. Challa at Springfield Cancer Center. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 p.m. His funeral will follow on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Renewed Strength Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Hackworth officitiating. James will be laid to rest next to Brenda at Concord Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to Springfield Cancer Center in James' honor.
