Iler, Helen, age 94, of Springfield, OH, formerly of Englewood, FL, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 with her family at her side. She was born November 22, 1921 in Dayton, OH, to Floy Henry and Hazel Elizabeth (Rhodehamel) Parsons of St. Paris, OH. She worked as an administrative assistant in the Air Technical Intelligence Center at WPAFB for 12 years and then in 1961 she and her husband, Charles Iler, moved to Englewood, FL. She worked as a bookkeeper at Lemon Bay Lumber Company in Englewood and Stottlemyer & Shoemaker Lumber Company in Venice, FL. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Englewood, FL, Elks Womens Aux. Englewood Dows #203, 70-year member of O.E.S. of St. Paris and Urbana, OH Chapter #530, a member of the DAR since 2005 in Myakka Chapter in Venice, FL and Springfield Chapter. She was a member of the Englewood Genealogical Society where she researched her familys history back to and before the Revolutionary War. Helen loved to travel, play her piano and everyone enjoyed her sense of humor. Helen is survived by her brothers, Floy H. Bud Parsons Jr. and his wife, Louise, Simon W. Si Parsons and his wife, Patricia and a sister, Virginia Genny Shafer, all of St. Paris, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and special companion, Herbert Brobst. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the WALTER & STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, with Eastern Star services at 11:45 a.m. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Interment will be in Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Helens memory.
