Harley George Knox

KNOX, Harley George, 88, of Urbana passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Ohio‘s Hospice of Dayton. He was born on September 20, 1934 in Urbana, Ohio the son of the late Otis Walter and Rosella Alberta (Faber) Knox. In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by his two sons, Harley Joe Knox and Terry Knox; sister, Shirley Copeland, and former spouse and mother of his children, Shirley Knox. Harley leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 33 years Carol Knox; daughter, Cindy and Jim Cushman; son, Randy and Sandy Knox; daughter-in-law Mandy Knox; sister-in-law, Linda and Dave McCormick; brother-in-law, Wayne Copeland. Harley is also survived by his grandchildren: Lisa, Darren, Tony, Alan, Anna, Asher, Adly, Aydan, Gibson and Riley; great grandchildren: Kara, Kasen, Rory, Kendra, Callie, and Ransom; nephews: Daniel and Michael as well as nieces: Connie, Debbie and Julie. Harley retired at the age of 62 from BOMAG/Compaction America. He spent over 35 years as a dedicated employee, retiring as parts warehouse manager. Harley was a lover of country music. He and his mother and father had a band called Knox Rhythm Ramblers later he played in a band with his two sons, Terry and Harley Joe. Some would say the band was back together. Harley was a Salem Township trustee for many years and also used to call square dancing. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the compassionate and skillful care from his nurses at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. A double visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 12:30 - 2:00 PM. A service honoring Harley and his son Terry will begin at 2:00 PM and they will be laid to rest at Kings Creek cemetery.
