Gertrude Emily Kelley was born on November 7, 1937 to Griffith Evans and Maude Emily (Bailey) Kelley.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of
his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he
also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say
in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son,
but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will
bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who
condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand
of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or
hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we
face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor
anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.” - Romans 8:28-39
At twelve years old Trudy worked at Gayer’s Grocery, sang on the radio, and recorded records with her
brother. She started writing letters to a sailor during the Korean War, who she later married on February
14, 1954.
She worked at the Urbana Daily Citizen, Urbana Mills, Children’s House, and Landmark while raising her
three children. Then, in 1980 she graduated from Clark State College as a Licensed Practical Nurse
(L.P.N.) professional, going on to work at Green Hills Community for thirteen years. From 1992 – 2012
she worked for her son at McCall Sharp Architecture.
Throughout her life, Trudy played the guitar. Music was her passion. She was very active in her church’s
music program and performed with her daughter for many years.
We know her family and friends will never forget all the memories made throughout her life, ranging
from the holidays to vacations and just day-to-day life. While traveling to places like Florida, California,
and Canada was nice, it didn’t quite compare to being at her house every Sunday after church for a
delicious meal, with family and friends filling the house with love, laughter, and good conversations.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Griffith and Maude Kelley; sisters, Ruth Spence Clay and
Betty Spence Reed; brothers, Calvin Spence, Leon Spence, Bill Kelley, and Ted Kelley; and her husband
Harley McCall. Those who survive and grieve her loss are her three children, Belinda (Rex) Asbury, Ed
McCall, and Mike (Tammy) McCall; Grandchildren, Jason (Crystal) Otto, Emily Rose Asbury, Mandy (Aaron) Lauck, Kelli
(Heath) Underwood, Doug (Kylie) McCall, and Katie Jo McCall; and her great grandchildren, Taylor Lauck, Dylan Lauck, Sam Lauck, Jake Lauck, Zeke Lauck, Carter Underwood, Coraline Underwood, Alexis Salm-lee, and Makayla McCall.
Trudy truly practiced the commandment to “Love Your Neighbor As Yourself” (Mark 12:31). Her entire
life was a life of giving and loving. Her love was unconditional. From all of her loved ones to her, we love
you more. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com.
