Georgia Ann (Markley) Compton

COMPTON, Georgia Ann (Markley), 91 of St. Paris, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021. Born on February 22, 1930 in Somerford, Ohio, to Herbert and Lina (McWhirt) Markley.
She loved to serve her customers at the Shell Steakhouse in Columbus where she was employed for 18 years. She enjoyed housekeeping, loved to shop, dance and tend to her flower garden. Alongside her late husband, Ed, she was an avid Buckeye fan, loved to camp and be outdoors. Most of all, Georgia loved spending time with family, sharing laughs over a strong martini. Survivors include her daughters, Alexis Howell and Connie (Joe Ferrell) Compton, son-in-law, Don Scott, brother, Eldon "Perk" Markley; grandchildren: Hiedie (Jason) Whitman, Chevits Hoover, Lina Bray, Jenny Lyn (Donnie) Fife; Zach (Liz) Hartje, Cody (Melissa) Hartje, and Trevor (Jessica) Hartje; great-grandchildren: Daulton Howell, Jarrett Howell, Austin Pullins, Taylor Gibson, Austin Gibson, Hunter Gibson, Adyson Gibson, Jeremy Bray, Owen Bray, Gavin Thomason, Braydon Thompson, Donovan Fife, Haven Fife, Ashton Fife, Colson Fife, Landon Hartje, Ella Hartje, Cora Hartje, Ava Hartje, Nolan Hartje, and Maddox Hartje as well as great-great grandchildren, Lola Gibson and Addilyn Howell. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Compton; children, Jennifer Potter and Linda Scott; brother, Herbert Markley, sisters: Jane DeVore, Edna Nance, Betty Eades and Evelyn Jackson; and her grandson, Jason Howell. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with her service beginning at 1:00 p.m at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Oak Dale Cemetery.
