Esther Marshall Stevens

Esther Marshall Stevens, 91, of St. Paris, died on Monday, September 2, 2013 in her residence. She was born on April 16, 1922 in Springfield, OH, the daughter of Horace E. and Oda (Rhynard) Marshall. Esther was a 1940 graduate of Christiansburg Jackson where she played on the basketball team. She was also a member of the Christiansburg United Methodist Church. Esther held several officer roles with the Champaign County Extension Homemakers, was a member of the Friendly Homemakers Club, a member of the Champaign County Family & Consumer Sciences Advisory Council and the Champaign County Extension Advisory Council and was a 4-H sewing club adviser for 25 years. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Pond of St. Paris, son, Michael and wife Cynthia of Centerville, six grandchildren, Steven (Brenda) Massie of St. Paris, Scott (Ann) Massie of St. Paris, Stacey (Steven) Koons of Urbana, Jennifer (Matthew) Ward of St. Paris, Stephen (Erin) Weber of Grand Rapids, MI and Grant (Samantha) Stevens of Centerville, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin P. Stevens in 2006, her parents, daughter Donna Massie and son-in-law Danny, and two brothers, Horace Jr. and Richard. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Honeycreek Cemetery, Christiansburg.
