Ernest G. Jackson, 76, of Urbana, passed away on July 22, 2017 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 6, 1941 in Oil Springs, KY, a son of Andrew and Lucy (Adams) Jackson. Ernest served in the United States Army for three years and was employed by Grimes Honeywell Aerospace for 40 years before retiring. He always went out of his way to help others.
Ernest enjoyed his morning coffee every day at McDonald’s with the other retirees and loved spending time with his grandsons.
Survivors include his son, Jay (Trisha) Jackson; grandchildren, Aron and Adam Jackson; brother, James (Lois) Jackson; half-sister, Virginia (Jim) Smith; half-brothers, Ron (Betty) Hall and Richard Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: mother of his son, Janet McCombs Jackson; brothers, William Jackson and Rodney Vanscoy; sister, Ann Wiant; half-brothers, Donald and Johnny Hall; and stepfather, Forrest Hall.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 with James Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cable.
