Douglas M. Rhodes

Douglas M. Rhodes, 67, of Friendship, formerly of Urbana, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born on April 18, 1949 in Urbana, OH, the son of Nelson “Ned” and Helen (Martin) Rhodes. A 1968 graduate of Troy High School, Douglas served in the United States Army from 1971-1973 and went on to attend Hobart Welding School in Troy and the Indianapolis School for fuel injectors for automotive diesel. He worked for Grimes Manufacturing for 16 years and then performed odd jobs around Urbana.
Douglas was good at photography and always had a camera in his hand.
He is survived by his brother, Nelson “Rusty” Rhodes of Urbana; numerous cousins, including special cousins Linda Thackery of Georgia, Susan Williams of Tennessee and Richard Martin of Urbana; friends, Dr. George Knull of Long Beach, CA and Brant Butler of Florida; and many friends at Country Living Assisted Living in Friendship.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana, with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating.
