Donald "Donnie" Knight

Donald E. Donnie Knight, 80, of Urbana, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Vancrest of Urbana. He was born on June 18, 1934 in Urbana, OH, the son of Kenneth Ray and Irva Mildred (Hart) Knight Sr. Donnie was a 1952 graduate of Urbana Local School, a longtime member of Bowlusville United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He drove a truck for Lawsons Milk Co. and drove a bus for Urbana City Schools. Donnie had a great love for horses, spending many years training, breeding and racing harness horses. He was a longtime member of the US Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horsemens Association. Donnie was a wonderful, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and for the last two months, was proud to be a great grandfather! Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Payne) who he married in May 1957; daughter, Kay Huebner and husband Stephen of Plain City; son, Gary Knight and wife Beth of Urbana; grandchildren, Joe Knight (Hannah Henson) of Dearborn Heights, MI, Josh Knight (Paige Landon) of Marysville, Stephanie Huebner of Plain City and Emily Huebner of Plain City; great-grandchild, Jak Knight of Marysville; sister-in-law, Shirley (Winston) Prosser; faithful dog Speedy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Knight; and sister-in-law, Helen Knight. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held that evening at 6 p.m. with Pastor Karen Rogers officiating.
